Why Connecting People Exists
When I moved to El Salvador October 2022, I faced the same challenges most expats experience: endless hours wasted searching online, messaging random people in Facebook groups, and trying to figure out who I could actually trust. I quickly realized how overwhelming, confusing, and often risky it can be to find reliable services, housing, or business opportunities here.At the same time, I saw how difficult it is for local businesses, even good, honest ones, To reach the right clients. Many rely on word of mouth or spend their time chasing leads in the wrong places. They often don’t know how to present themselves to an international audience, and as a result, they miss out on opportunities.This left me in the middle: I understood both sides. Expats desperately needed trustworthy solutions, and local businesses needed a way to reach them. Yet there was no filter, no system, no platform that created a win-win.That’s where Connecting People was born in 2024...

Lago de Coatepeque is about an hour from San Salvador, Lago de Coatepeque is a stunning crater lake known for its vibrant, changing colors, from deep blues to bright turquoise. (Depending on the period the lake is turquoise.) Surrounded by volcanic hills, it’s perfect for swimming, jet skiing, dining at lakeside restaurants, or simply soaking in breathtaking views.Recommendations: Have lunch or dinner at the lakeside restaurants or at the restaurant La Pampa, or stay at the Cardedeu Hotel.

Concepción de Ataco is about 2 hours from San Salvador, Ataco is a colorful mountain town along the Ruta de las Flores. Founder Berry Verkleij, who relocated to El Salvador in October 2022, faced the exact challenges many expats and investors encounter. Back then there were not many people living in El Salvador, Berry had to figure the challenges out by himself. Learned that it can be difficult to find trustworthy people who are legit and honest, and do not take advantage of newcomers.Instead of letting these frustrations continue, Berry decided to create a central hub where trust comes first. About the founder
Hi, I’m Berry Verkeij, originally from the Netherlands. In 2022, I sold my house, quit my job, and moved to El Salvador with just two suitcases. Three years later, I’m still here, fully immersed in the culture, the people, and the opportunities this country has to offer.Over the years, I’ve built strong connections with locals, expats, and business owners. I speak Dutch, English, and Spanish, which helps me bridge cultures and create trust.How I’ve helped others:
